METALLIGENCE
« on: June 12, 2009, 09:32:56 AM »
I saw this in thursdays drum media mag

"Who would have thunk it that the highest number of pre orders for Guitar Hero: Metallica in JB HiFi stores in Australia would have come from our very own Rockingham!? Seems though the traditional 'don't care' strain of bogans has evolved into the clever, pre-planning breed of bogans. This could be dangerous.

speaking of which, everyone I know that owns/played it reckons its fucking awesome and by far the best GH. Of course, my entire demographical study has been 100% metalheads, so not a huge surprise.

Agreed sir.

I play guitar hero whenever im at someone elses house ill never spend money on it i play it for like a day then get bored.

i just hope it inspires kids to actually go out and learn guitar when the novelty of pressing coloured buttons gets old and if anyone can complete 1 song on Expert don't you think all that time and hard efforts and brain power could of gone into actually learning the song for real.

I have never played guitar hero. Why would I want to when I can play the real thing? 8)

It's more about having a laugh at a party than anything else. I'm pretty useless at it, and would never dream of getting the game myself, but it can be good fun with a group of people, same as Sing Start and such. Just an expensive party game.

I've got it all in my lounge room, drum kit, two guitars and mic with GH 3, World Tour and Metallica. Sure, its nothing like the real thing (though the sticking patterns for the drums are often very similair), but what it is is fun, nothing more. XKCD said it best with this.

I decided today that I am going to finally learn how to play guitar (the real kind). Gunna borrow a mates spare axe (crappy strat copy) and get practicing and if I get good enough, will treat myself to buying his BC Rich Mockingbird NJ Series neck thru - gorgeous axe!

or his Jackson Kelly (one of 3 - obviously not his KE2)

speaking of which Melkor no longer reminds me of Alan. On tonights episode I saw Judiths and Candy lawyer. And he has more of a resemblance to Melkor than Alan does. 8)

I don't see why when Guitar Hero is mentioned why everyone has to jump all over it and say it isn't real guitar. Of course it isn't real guitar, it's a video game, it's not meant to be realistic. It's meant to be easily accessible and fun. It achieves both.

bingo! thats exactly the point. Like playing a racing game - even if you have a wheel and pedals, its not meant to be like you're driving a real car, otherwise you would need a licence to play the game.

lol, I am decent at guitar hero and I play real guitar. It's just a video game, not meant to be the real thing. Though the closest you'll get to the real thing is the drumkit(damn thing is a little flimsy though, especially the kick pedal). It's a good party game when you and your mates are drunk and is just plain old good fun.

You'll realize that it's actually pretty hard on expert difficulty even for "real" guitarists. I know I don't see many people boasting about guitar hero when they don't actually play real guitar, as far as I know I think it's alot more fun and more interesting, exposes people to decent music instead of people prancing around on a "dance pad" playing Dance Dance Revolution. Now, THAT was bullshit.

I agree with points 2 through 5. Hence why I stick to Guitar Hero 3 with classy bands like Rolling Stones, Slayer and er... No Doubt.

I just got GHWT and it's nothing but retardedly awesome fun.  I have, however, made a point of telling all my elitist guitar playing friends that I am shredding the shit up with 3 fingers on easy.  I love furious guitarists.

I find it funny that Trapped Under Ice on expert you're actually doing more than what Lars is (kick drum hits are twice as fast)

Where did you get your extra kick pedal? EB were giving them out if you pre-ordered but I missed out. Also whats wrong with your snare, is it not responsive? If so, go to activisions website and try to find something about guitar hero warranties. Just enter your details and they'll post you a midi to usb cable so you can hook your drums up to a PC, download some software and you can tune their responsiveness. I went from hardly been able to play songs on medium (which I found strange considering I play actual drums) to 5 starring songs on expert.
