Nightmare on Elm St - remake 2010
« on: July 24, 2009, 04:33:41 PM »
Yep, another classic horror movie is going to be destroyed... and worst of all, its produced by Michael Bay.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Nightmare_on_Elm_Street_(2010_film)

The more I read about it the more pissed off I get. They reckon they are going to try to make the character of Freddie scarier, therefore he wont be "cracking any jokes".... but to me, its that personality trait that makes Freddie who he is, and in fact, makes him creepier than some brain dead, blood thirsty slasher. This is gunna suck worse than Texas Chainsaw and Friday 13th remakes.

the wise cracks make him seem more fucked up for sure, you know, like he's not even doing it outta hell bent rage, its just cause he's an evil fucker and he enjoys it.
without the WC's it wont be Freddie.

Michael Bay needs to die.. A slow and painful death, say with some barbed wire and PVC, and a crowd of giggling prisoners laughing at him.

Saw the Unborn last week... Worst. Horror flick. Ever.

Reeked of Pretentious directing in a 'look at my movie, it's the best thing since The Exorcist' kinda way.. So yeah pretty much the same way all his movies are.

I agree with Mago... Freddy's wise cracks were awesome and even though they were cheesy, that was the charm of the character!
Why do film makers constantly think it's a good idea to "revive" classics with a modern edge? Obvious answer is nobody can come up with an original idea anymore, and sees "$$$$" in tried and true film franchises. Booooooring.
I also have a sick glove my mate Aaron crafted for me.... real knive fingers and he even carefully burnt the glove material to make it look "weathered"!

Jackie Earle Hayley who played Rorschach in Watchmen is gonna play him, which is a perfect cast if you have seen the movie.

Whats the bet theyll do a "Freddy flashback", so they can film a massive car chase scene with Freddy trying to escape the neighborhood vigilantes...

...and the vigilantes would be riding on top of Devastator in the Egyptian desert.

The scary thing is he isn't even directing it... this guy is:

"Samuel David Bayer (born in 17 February 1962 in Syracuse, New York) is an American commercial and music video director." :err:

The Friday the 13th remake was a shocker but Rob Zombie's Halloween was awesome. Psychological Slasher? Well made. Looking forward to the sequel coming soon.

Rob Zombie makes some awesome movies. House of 1000 corpses was pretty cool, but The Devil's Rejects was better in my opinion. Not very often a sequel out-shines the original, but this one did. And yeah, his Halloween was KILLER, so the next should be just as good.

Bah...... Watching this remake will be akin to listening to the new Arch Enemy "remake" album: Full of frustration and longing for the original. :(
