We were sitting directly behind the mixing desks, normally a prime spot for getting great sound.  And it wasn't.  Tom's vocals were way too quiet and the kicks were overpowering as hell, the overall sound was rather disappointing.  Megadeth sounded way better mixwise.   That said, the guys who were at ground level said the sound for Slayer was way better where they were.  Loved the Slayer emblem in the flames.

Slayer were also pretty damn good. Tom sounded ok to me. ....Lombardo!  :headbang: . Would of liked to hear SOMETHING from Show No Mercy! (why they persist with playing God Hates Us All i'll never know). Ah well at least we got Hell Awaits & Chemical Warfare  :hmm:

Chris Broderick was pretty impressive. I can't believe how effortless he was. What a dude. His playing actually makes me interested in giving End Game another good listen. Great set list. So glad they played Rattlehead!!

A shirtless, drunk, down-syndrome man put his arm around me... so excited to be singing along to megadeth... but the line he chose to sing was a poor choice. MEGADETH were great..... started out awesome with WAKE UP DEAD, waned a bit in the middle but made it up in the end! CLASSIC.

SLAYER was simply brilliant.... HELL AWAITS, ANGEL OF DEATH, RAIN IN BLOOD, DEAD SKIN MASK..... all the classics done PERFECTLY. The new songs sound interestingly aggressive and fast too.


Lowlight = getting a black eye while seperating two nitwits having a brawl..... shit happens, but that'll learn me for being a good samaritan :P

I'm a fan of both bands but I found Megadeth's set a little boring - too many guitar solos (not my thing) and they lost me in the middle with the "lame era" stuff. Other people I was with preferred Megadeth though and they got a huge response from the crowd at large so must just be my personal taste. The Peace Sells / Holy Wars finale was pretty cool.

Slayer seemed much louder and had a better mix from where I was sitting but have to agree about the kicks - way too loud in the mix, I have a hangover from them today. Still - 100 times better than the Robbo Pavillion sound so I was happy. The band pretty much dominated from go to whoa, an absolutely punishing set and Tom's voice was better than I was expecting - even if he did skip the scream at the start of Angel of Death.
