LOtus Eater was mistaken
they did not play Textures, they played Integral birth instead.

Paul said they would probably "Stuff up " Textures if they tried it.
obviously they hadnt been rehearsing it.

To the best of my recollection ...:

Intergral Birth

Trying to remember what occurred on stage at screamfest was a bit cloudy but I do remember textures being mentioned sorry  plus getting almost hammered on the boat cruise didn't make things any clearer!

Tonight...cannot wait  :headbang:

For Ensiferum - If I can recall 2 songs from afar the rest was from previous albums

gah, I dont mean to be rude either but I truely hope a healthy serving of the first 2 albums are played. I was totally hooked on both those albums years ago and since Jari left it has just been "meh" Guardians of Fate and Hero in a Dream would make my night (and anything from Cynic is fine by me but Adams Murmur would be a pleasant bonus!)

Could have seen a bit, but fucked if I'm paying $80 to see half their set and some other shit band headlining...that gig really should have been Cynic headlining, Ensiferum supporting and perhaps one local opener for $60, then I probably would have made it.

Edguy... I got their drum stick and gave it to some guy because they sucked.

lol I knew no-one would agree on things tonight, bit of a melting pot of genres there... Seemed like pretty much everyone there was only there for one band and then stood around out the front after bagging the others.

Its all metal guys  :headbang:

Haha heck, I was there to see Cynic myself. I don't consider them a band for live metal audiences, still pulled off a fucking great show with their technical brilliance. I loved their set list, would've been great to hear more from their first album, my only complaint.

Not a big fan of the whole Viking metal thing, Ensiferum was fun to listen to for awhile. I felt like boot scooting and pumping and swinging my fist. Also not a big fan of Edguy but they knew how to get the crowd going.

To each their own! :D

So true. I wasn't there for Ensiferum but at least they were entertaining.
cynic -the exact opposite BORING - and how un-metal were the midget guitars!!

Edguy were good in the limited time they had although Tobbias used the same banter on us as was on their DVD.
Vain glory opera - what a great tune.

I didn't understand Cynic one bit, soooooo disengaging.Oh well...... The Eckart Tolle samples were the coolest bit!
Ensiferum weren't my style, but they are very pro. Very playful indeed. Pretty modern vibe, whilst simultaneously archaic :eyebrows:
Edguy was great for the old timers, too predictable for me though.
Despite my complaining, it was still good to get out and see some Internationals:)

I thought I would die of boredom during Cynic...seemed a bit 'arty' for my liking.
Ensiferum and Edguy were very cool though!

Enfiresum were great,  at least I was front row this time
Cynic were too arty for some but I love the atmosphere the music creates

What a great show :headbang:
Ensiferum were so awesome, that was the biggest bass!
I tried to get into cynic because of rave reviews, but they bored the batshit out of me. They just didnt fit in the party atmosphere of the other two bands. Maybe at their own gig it would be easier to could get into them. Maybe.
Edguy were truly awesome played, some great songs and seemed to have fun as well. It was great to catch them in WA after being a bit of a long time fan :headbang: :headbang:

Cynic displayed one of the most amazing 45 minutes of live music i think i have ever seen in my life. Words cannot describe how talented their frontman is. I really don't understand how people were bored by them, each to their own I guess.

I see how most people that dug the other two bands would have found Cynic dull by their own comparison, but I personally found them nothing but brilliant for the exact opposite reason, extremely captivating and insanely tight music, played with 100% conviction.

They should have done their own headline show so they could play where the atmosphere was more suited to that style of music, instead of playing with bands that completely didn't suit their genre.

But fuck me - they simply owned.

First opinion when i walked in.....WORST. MERCHSTAND. EVER.
seriously, 3 shirts, and only 2 after a bit, and no ensiferum shirts? so lame

ensiferum were fucking briliant, sacrificed a fair bit of the sound by being front row, but well worse it, loved how they had a mix from all their albums, to bad they didnt play The Wanderer though :(

cynic...good band, really talented, but were putting me to sleep so i got a kebab instead.

ed guy, really not my type of music, but they were really entertaining...well the none music parts were :P haha

First off, Cynic are one of those bands that are always going to polarise people, so I can understand why some may not have liked them or found them boring. But I was fully engrossed for the full 45 minutes (I think I took my eyes off the stage about twice). The sound check time length and set list were a little disappointing (no How Could I, I'm But A Wave, Uroboric Forms or Veil of Maya), but that still didn't stop it from been one of the most memorable shows I've seen. Talking to Sean Reinert afterwards was beyond awesome, that man is more talented than most other metal drummers out there.

I can't think of another band that I've seen in Perth that have capitvated me more than Cynic last night. Finally seeing them on the small stage is something I've been dreaming to experience since '08 and now I've officially ticked that box the fuck off.

And hearing Textures played too, simply beautiful and stunningly performed music. Even just the little things like how the band acted in between songs, or when there were small passages where the bassist wasn't required, he just rested his hands across his bass and closed his eyes. Just wonderful

I suppose it helps for me that I knew every song they played backwards, and I do really empathise for people after Ensiferium by putting them in a completely different frame of mind for those unaware of Cynics material. But this performance is one of the very few I've seen that was mind-bendingly difficult, without decending into tech death oblivion. A refreshing change of pace for me at least.

For anyone who was bored or just didn't get what Cynic were attempted to achieve, please get your hands on Traced In Air. Give it a few spins, let the message and the mood of the album sink in. Really listen to it, and I hope you get close to how fantastic I felt listening and seeing them last night :)

Also, I got my Exivious poster signed by Robin and Timmo, FARK YEEEEEEAH :headbang: That's going straight to the pool room
