Scar Symmetery - DARK MATTER DIMENSIONS
« on: August 08, 2009, 06:43:13 PM »
 :o :o :o :o :o :o

New album already? It's only been a year since Holographic Universe?!?

Tracklisting:

01. The Iconoclast
02. The Consciousness Eaters
03. Noumenon And Phenomenon
04. Ascension Chamber
05. Mechanical Soul Cybernetics
06. Non-Human Era
07. Dark Matter Dimensions
08. Sculptor Void
09. A Parenthesis In Eternity
10. Frequency-Shifter
11. Radiant Strain
12. Pariah

Well this is a surprise. I'd say they never toured the last album and got wokring on a new one straight after they fired Christian.

The live footage I've seen recently with the 2 replacement singers has been atrocious, hopefully they sound decent in a studio setting!

If thats what you're talking about, then I completely agree. They are decent singers in their own right, but have nothing on Christian.

Exactly. Fair enough Christian was maybe hard to work with and they had to get rid of him but to hire these 2 guys?

There would've been better applicants.

It's always the same when there're two dedicated vocalists, the onstage performance is scattershot because you can never tell whos leading the band; who the frontman is. Ends up being confusing to watch and ultimately, even if each vocalist cover a different range, detracts from the band.

When I saw Sonic Syndicate I noticed a similar problem, along with being exceptionally shit.

Scar Symmetry have been my favourite band since I discovered Pitch Black Progress. Christian's departure and the 2 new vocalists' arrivals have been a bitter disappointment to me. As far as I'm concerned the most exciting European metal band has potentially gone down the tubes and I can't express how much that sucks. Even though I could happily listen to Nilson shred for an entire album, the vocals on their 3 Records were masterpieces due to both Per and Christian. The fact that one is missing is a fucking massive let down.

Here's hoping we're all in for a massive surprise.

Already a new album? the last ones one of my favourites of last year.

Its a shame that such a good band had to fire an even better vocalist.

As much of a prick christian may have been, sometimes you have to work with people regardless of if their a prick or not to achieve. Hopefully the music in the new album is as good as previous ones, cause thats what will sell it for me apart from the awesome vocal melodies that christian brought to the band.

And yes the 2 new vocalists are shocking compared to christian.

Still good for a band of older blokes where everybody is 30+
What we do in our lives echoes in eternity

Christian may have gone from SS, but he'll be back - better than ever.

His own projects, plus collaborating with an Australian prog metal band to be released soon.

Not for swedish melodic death.

I'm still holding out some good hope for this. As long as Per Nelson is still there and doing most of the song-writing then I'm sure it's not going to completely suck. That guy is king of catchy melodies. I agree though the 2 vocalists aren't anywhere near as good as Christian, and would be lame to see perform live.

Christian may have gone from SS, but he'll be back - better than ever.

 :headbang:

Are you referring to him guest appearing on the new Universum album?? i have no idea how much money that took to pull off! Not to mention getting the two guitarists from Nightrage to do guest solos.  :o

Calm down everyone, firstly its live shitty recording so its hard to judge the vocals, secondly they are singing someone elses songs at the moment when they write the new album i'm sure they will write it in a style that suits their voices not Christians and thirdly SS in Vids that i have seen have never been the most amazing band for stage presence. Christian was a brilliant singer and will be missed but hopefully these guys can pull something off on the new album.

Yes, but Holographic Universe was a different band really.

I don't share your optimism I'm afraid Dave.

A change of vocalist hardly means a different band.

The good/smart bands revert back to the classic singer.

hahaha thats awesome

also that new track sounds fucking huge and heavy. The death vocals are brutal. Still not a huge fan of the clean vox but im glad they havent made them over the top power-metal style. I could certainly get used to them. All the good per nelson solo shredding is there which is the main thing!

exciting!
