It's been announced that there will be no free public transport for Soundwave patrons, that is totally ghey considering its right near the train line, which ALOT of folks will be using I'm sure...

SPECIAL public transport will not be provided for Monday's Soundwave music festival after the event organisers refused to contribute to the cost of extra buses and trains.

The Public Transport Authority today released a statement saying negotiations have broken down between the authority and the promoters of the Soundwave music festival over the provision of extra public transport for the event, which is being held at Bassendean Oval on Monday.

Anyone seen the map for soundwave this year?

The drinking areas are a bit different, same as the stage setups (Though Stage 4 is still right at the entrance)

Ah but a bit of research unearths this:

All good, let them lock horns, as long as I get home!

Ah, beat me to it.

Yeh Damo, the drinking area is a bit too far away from Stage 4 for my liking...

WHAT A DAY...hahah

Highlights for me was Baroness, ISIS, Meshuggah, Trivium and Whitechapel. Fucken hot day, also pissed that Meshuggah only got about 25 minutes due to bands before them (I.E Anvil) playing well over their alotted time)

All in all, a good day :)

Baroness - fucking awesome
Isis - good, but it was a bit hot for prog that extreme
Glassjaw - brilliant
Anvil - MEH
Meshuggah - like them more and more every time I see them, I'm beginning to understand the hype
Anthrax - hilarious. I can now die happy, I've seen each of the "big 4" (and also Testament, the oft-suggested 5th member). Wish they wouldn't keep dragging out "Bring the Noise" though.
Trivium - blergh. I've now seen this band three times and interviewed two of it's members and I still can't stand them.
Faith No More - Mike Patton for president, pope, and god.

I didn't see Anvil but I think the times got fucked on stage 4 when the setup for Meshuggah took twice as long as it was meant to (they seemed to be having trouble with the monitors) and then the crew tried to get them off stage at the allotted time but because they started 20 mins late they just played anyway - pretty sure they played almost their full allotted 40 minutes.

Yeah, the changeover between Anvil and Meshuggah didn't help them at all. they spent quite a bit of time trying to get one of the overhead drum mics to work, and after about 15 minutes, decided to change the cable and was all good...

BARONESS were fucking great, as were ISIS though it felt weird to see them in the daylight (and scorching hot sun). I saw Aaron Turner in Java Juice in the morning, but didn't recognize him with his Jesus beard. I remember seeing his tatts on his elbows and thinking "What the fuck is that. A fence tattoo?" :P

Caught a bit of GLASSJAW, but wasn't really digging it so went and saw CLUTCH who were super cool to see, I regretted wasting half their set in front of GJaw... even though it was under cover.

ANVIL "Hey how the fuck arrre ya Prrrth" were pretty good, but ANTHRAX blew them off the stage. The cover of New Noise was a bit of a surprise!

Spent ages waiting for FAITH NO MORE, and had to sit through Jimmy Eats Dicks to get a good possie, but the 13-year wait was worth it. What a band, they kept you guessing, especially with Patton as "conductor". Would've liked to hear more off Angel Dust\Real Thing, and less of the slow songs from KFAD\AOTY, but overall seeing them and Anthrax was worth the price of admission alone. Will post pics when I get a chance...

BARONESS!! Holy fuck were they as great as I hoped. Loved every song :headbang: ISIS were amazing but yeah, the environment didn't really translate very well with their music. All I got from them was a taste of how great it could be, so I'm not done with them yet, not by a long shot.

MESHUGGAH getting a slightly short set was a bit of a downer and after seeing them three times, STILL no New Millennium Cyanide Christ :'( Hearing Bleed played in its entirety just about made up for it though, still a fantastic band to watch and especially to mill to. Can't think of another band that give such a satisfying mill.

Fucking AWESOME day, was great catching up with new and old mates too

Yeah yeah yeah, but for those of us who weren't lucky enough to catch them in '97, they still put on a good show last night. Even though they probably only did it to top up their super funds :eyebrows:

Fuck, they were wicked. They really showed everyone how to put on a real performance.

Meshuggah made all the other metal bands piss. They certainly made it clear that they are the most crushingly heavy band on the planet in my opinion.

Anvil were great fun. To me it really translated that they were just super stoked to be there and were having the absolute time of their lives. The fact that their music is pretty lame for the most part really didn't matter to me. They were having a great time and so was I!

Clutch were pretty wicked too. A solid rock performance with a big fat sound.

Isis were good for a short while but got pretty boring. Great sound and they'd probably be awesome to see in a club type venue which isn't blisteringly hot and uncomfortable but they didn't really grab me yesterday.

They were the most muffled band on the planet, more like. That's 2 times they've left me with the feeling they are a "CD only band". Although, that's probably not their fault... it's who ever was behind the desk.

Hah! Love it...

Keep in mind that all their gear is DI'd, minus drums - which can pose a challenge for the uninitiated sound guy.

Didnt go yesterday, but happened to be with a friend in the city today and ran into the guys from Anvil. I had no idea who they were, but my buddy got a picture. They were pretty tired and uninterested in us.

Oh, having the same 3 reggae remixes of classic Police songs playing between the bands on Stage 4 for the WHOLE day gets boring very quickly, way to kill the vibe between the bands sets lol
