Who was the first Aussie heavy metal band you saw?

And, of all the WA metal bands (active or not), which are your favourite 3?

First metal gig I've been to ever was one that was played at a basketball court in some rec centre or some high school (can't remember!). It was all ages and I can't remember who headlined, either Fuck I'm Dead or Blood Duster, but the bands that played were Scourge, Dethlahem, Pyromesh and Pathogen. This was when I was 15, in 2002.

Voyager was headlining at the Monkey Bar and I think Pathogen was one of the supporting bands. I didn't get to see all of Voyagers set though, as I had to catch the 12am train.

I do remember going to a gig the following week at the Amplifer bar a bit more vividly though

I went to go into the beer garden entrance while wearing my brand-new Voyager shirt (the one with the white circle and yellow V) but they turned me away because there was a private function. Confused, I made my way back to City Kebabs to ask my brother what was going on. But on the way there, shrouded in darkness and passing me by, I hear the shadow say "Hey nice shirt". I turn around to say thanks, but instead I see him and say;

"Hey, you're Mark from Voyager!"

MDV showed me the parking-lot entrance to Amplifer and a good ol' fashioned Scouge gig laid in store for me.

It was craigie leisure centre up in the northen suburbs
Would have been some of the first gigs i went to.

But i think my first ever one (in australia) was seeing Karnivool play at Leederville Tafe, would have been 2001/2002

First +18 gig was Brutal Fisting at the Civic.

First local gig all together was Burn for me when I was 15.

I remember that gig. A limo driver pulled up there by mistake and we all jumped in ha ha took him about 20 minutes to get away...That was also the time I kicked a footy from the middle of the court and swished it through the ring...

First band I saw was Rawkus...

1st gig i went to was Metal-fist(4?) @ the Whitesands with CHOKE, Enforce, Dethlahem, Frust (& Impact Winter?) - Memorable for Dethlahem doing Angel of Death.

The next week it was Black Steel, SyZyGy, Psychonaut, KIN & Minds Eye @ the Ampy

1. As soon as I was old enough to get in (I never looked older than I was, so I had to wait until I had ID....) it was Bloodduster. And it was awesome. Oh lord. The best.

First gig I went to was at Newport in Freo in, it must have been 2000, maybe even 1999. I cant remember any of the bands there except Black Steel.

First gig = 1994 ALLEGIANCE A.A. show at the old planet nightclub basement (technically the first band i saw was Cachexia or wasted youth or whoever the opening band of that long lost gig lineup was).

Oooh, now I feel old. 1994, Storytime supporting Suicidal Tendencies. I think... The Meanies, The Hardons and Mantissa supported RHCP at some point but I'm not 100% sure if that was their tour in 1992 or the one after that.

You know what local band I miss? T-Cells. Damn I loved that band.

Wow, so long ago.

I think it might have been Allegiance or Rawkus in about 92 or 93. I played my first Metal gig with Metalmorphis in about 94 I think.

Favourite Perth bands ever? Rothgar and Allegiance would have to be up there, I would say Kin too, not sure if that counts being as I was a member. Heady days.
