To this day I still am yet to hear a more ballsy live sound that Subtruck's. Phil's guitar tone is/was easily the most bullshit huge of any local dude in my time.

fuk yeah love the subtruck

i crank it in my office at work over the weekend when the managers are gone!!  :headbang:

they need to reform and do a gig with modus vivendi and Sysygy, Heavy Weight Champ and Headshot!!!

The first gig you almost went to was neverborns first album launch at the lookout :p

Was my first local gig, missed the opening bands though, I think we just stumbled across it being little grommits drinking round scabs.

*shakes heads*

I think first international gig I went to was either mudvayne or static x at the lookout, both with "The Kord" supporting.

again *shakes head*

I missed out on anthrax with belladonna, was the day i turned 18, had a ticket but no photo id, would of been a killer first gig.

Before that I had no idea there was even a Perth metal scene, was just sabbath, weed, wiskey and good friends.

FIRST SHOW FOR ME WAS PATHOGEN, SMASHED AND SAMAIN IN 1996 AT THE OLD SHENTON PARK HOTEL (R.I.P) I THINK SMASHED REPLACED GRIMOIRE THAT NIGHT?
ALL BANDS IMPRESSED THE FUCK OUTTA ME:)
THE FOLLOWING YEAR SAW THE BEGINNING OF THE WHITESANDS METALFESTS. YEP, SCARBOROUGH WAS/IS A GOOD PLACE TO GROW UP.

TOP 3 BANDS EVER WOULD BE (without being a wanker and voting for my own ;))
MINDS EYE
SAMAIN
IMPACT WINTER

MAXI P, MALICE UNITY, GROTESQUE, NEXUS,ENFORCE, SYNTONY, CUNTSCRAPE, SMASHED, SYZYGY, MODUS VIVENDI, CHOKE, PSYCHONAUT AND SACRITUAL ALL DESERVE A MENTION THO. AS DO THE MANY OTHERS I FORGOT....

Corrosion of Conformity blew them off the stage in '01 too, don't worry.

I do reckon. CoC were awesome that show. Especially their intro.

In an ironic twist some friends and I met Pantera and a couple of guys from Segression in the city that day and the Segression guys were more entertaining to talk to.

..but their music certainly wasn't better.

Actually, since I thought Slayer were the coolest band in the world at that point (still not far off it now), I quite enjoyed that sloppy cover!

Whoever it was that opened for Metallica in 98, i had just turned 13 so can't remember the band just that the drummer did a really long solo at the end.
