Pathogen's "Remnants" EP is the first release since their debut LP 'Bloodline' of 2005. This will also be the bands first live performances in a year-and-a-half and showcases a new line-up featuring founding members of established bands Malignant Monster & Miles Away.


It's also Fool The World's first show in 15 months...

...and i heard a rumour Enforce are doing a set of all new material too

Its a step down to generic metalcore... Gothenburg riffs were ruined by core bands ages ago. I was hoping something good. I guess ill go to see my mates band support them beforehand then bail

Yes the EP will be actual new Pat-hogen material (with the exception of one cover-song and a re-recorded acoustic piece that never featured on any Pathogen release)  I do apologise to those who ever enjoyed Pathogen for not being the prolific band we should've been back in the day, this apology also extends to various members who participated along the way.  If it were feasible i'd play the old songs til i'm 60, but that's just me, i just like playing them.


As much as i'd love to think the 'Reverence' single doesn't fit into any kind of 'core' mainframe, i can see how it might be received that way.  We are a melodic-deathmetal band that didn't really write anything for 10 years and that genre has changed a lot in that decade.  'Reverence' is the most different track on the CD, we were just trying to veer away from old ideas somewhat, it doesn't reflect any intended new direction.  The rest of the EP is pure text-book Pathogen, emcompassing all the elements you either loved or hated about the band.  All positive & negative feedback is welcomed.   I do miss gothenburg though 


As the CD title reflects, this is more of a 'finishing-off' of old ideas that were never used.  At the very least this is closure for what was nearly 15 years of good, fun, hard headbanging.  We have 3 gigs booked for November and that's it.  Whether we continue as Pathogen or some other entity thereafter is yet to be confirmed.


Either way it'll be a fun gig with great supports, feel free to come down for a mosh and perhaps a goodbye...

Unfortunately no, Cain is in the US right now tearing it up wth The Amenta.  The Malignant member we have performing with us is Jarrod, founding guitarist, who came into it only a few weeks back when we ran into some difficulty with another guitarist (goddamn revolving door policy ).  He's also layed down some killer guitar work for the EP and i'm extremely amped to share the stage with him again.  His amazing musicianship, stage presence and all-round committment to music has already take this band to new heights just in the past couple of weeks.

The vocalist is on the EP is Parish, known around some circles for possibly being the nicest guy in town.  This is one of his first recorded efforts and for someone with less experience than a veteran, like Cain, he did an outstanding job and i'm proud as punch to have him on this CD.

Anyway... the song sounds great dude! first half especially. Nice pacing with the lead up front and the interchanging riffs up to the middle section. Cool breakdown - didn't expect the arrangement which sounded refreshing but the end of the song dragged on a bit.

But fuck it. It does sound very Pathogen even if it's taking a few risks. Nice work.

Thanks dude, i did always enjoy bouncing musical ideas around with you, i'd be interested to know what you think of the whole EP so i'll have to hook you up with a copy next time i see you.  We'll will have to have that catch-up sometime soon and check out each others new releases i'm still yet to hear the entire reVolution LP.

I know what your saying about the end, it's funny how some parts work better live than on record, plus i wanted to try a reprise rather than cramming as many riffs into as song as possible without ever repeating a section, but hey, it's a song at least.

This is correct! I spoke with Parish a couple of months ago and he told me he was doing vocals in Pathogen.. Good on him
