Enforce were great. Haven't seen em for awhile but seem to get better the longer they are together!

Pathogen and FTW were both awesome, given they haven't gigged for so long and their new members. Well done, boys!

Not sure I agree with this...

Sure, local bands dont bring half the lights/pyro/sound gear that some touring acts bring (and the higher overheads to go with it) but MUSICALLY I dont think local bands are any less capable than touring acts.

$16 is certainly at the top-end as far as local bands go, but there were capable bands on the bill - dont de-value our scene!

Bands can't put on big gigs with fancy lights or pyro or whatever without money so if that's what people want, they need to cough up some dosh.

Bands also can't take their music on the road or record decent sounding albums, both of which are necessary if the 'scene' is to grow, without a healthy bank account.

Well its not just me that thought it was steep - everyone I spoke to about it thought it was overpriced too... I can understand if we maybe got a copy of the EP or a discount on merch but we didn't so I don't see how you can justify a $6 a head increase in price.

I wouldnt consider Psycroptic a local band and last time I saw them (with Ruins), i think it was $25...although that is 2 interstate bands. There definitely are some local bands worth paying more than the average $10-$12 for, or if it were a two stage event..................but didnt think this show warranted the door charge. Hope all the supports got paid well!!!

Exactly. I'm more than happy to pay extra if there is going to be some sorta drawcard (ie. national acts, two stages etc...) but I don't think the increase was justified this time.

And people can talk all they like about "de-valuing" the scene but what happens when EVERY band decides to start charging 15-16 bucks a head? You can guarantee you'll start seeing a lot less people at gigs thats for sure, especially with the way drink prices are going at live venues...

There aren't many local bands I'd pay $16 to see, but for $10 I'll check out almost anything if I'm in the mood.

I think that kinda pricing would deter heaps of people like myself, who aren't fussed either way about the bands prior to turning up- and these tend to be the people who you need to get in if you want more fans, because you hardly need to convince the locals who already know and love your stuff

For $16 I'd probably stay home and order pizzas.

Not for an overhead compared to $10 it isn't. What's the extra 66% going towards? Pockets, maybe. I don't know how gigs are financed.

i think recording a cd and paying to releasing it warrants the increase in door cost for this show in order to recoup funds.

Many other bands have recorded albums, obviously, and in the past have charged $10 entry or $15 with a c.d.
