superior 2.0 is awesome...i kinda found the pre-made loops that came with ez drummer pointless. Its easier to just map out the midi notes from scratch than search through a library of loops.

New metal foundry samples are sweet too - the DW kit rules

how would you rate foundry against sd2?

For me still, the fuckin snares on both DFH amd SD2 jst give me the freaking shits. they lack some serious body. especially with verb on em.

The metal foundry is pretty good, but it still needs a bit of tweaking to get sounding awesome.
I use a modified verison of the "Bleed" kit, and i change the kick and snare samples in my DAW.

been mucking with compression release and attack times with the kick and snare in SD2. definately dont wanna go nuts with comp on these things it just totally fucks any natural sound of the drum itself if you attack it too quick.  IMO SD2 barely needs much comp at all.

in that case im not coughin up any more on these proggies, im pretty happy with SD2, learing how to use a compressor "properly" with this program is paramount.

i just downloaded it but i haven't used it yet, i'm waiting to get "library of the extreme - blasts and fills" expansion.
So much easier to get tight, real blast beats.

From what i've read though it's just like ezdrummer, just drag midi beats and drop into your DAW (i use fruity loops just for drums and its piss easy)

I downloaded Ez player this weekend gone by. It is more like a cross between Ezdrummer and a DAW. You can alter the midi drum patterns with it and creat new midi drum loops. Or string a whole series of midi drum files together to make up a song. But what I forgot to mention before is that I have ToonTrack solo so I can use Ezdrummer as a stand alone with out the DAW. EZplayer pro is incorporated into Toontrack. SO I can build drum tracks or what ever I want to do. Without having to run my DAW all the time. That way it keeps CPU usage down.

thats pretty cool, i didn't know you could edit the midi in the program.
I just use it to drag and drop beats into fruity loops, then edit with piano roll.
Just got the "library of the extreme" midi pack which is pretty sweet!

I was fucking about with Ezplayer in Reaper just then. Using Ezplayer I chucked a few random grooves clips and fills together into the track editor. Threw in a few accents* here and there. Played and recorded the midi files into another track. Merging the midi files into one big midi file and then draging it into my reaper track. It works out really well and to put the icing on the cake, I loaded up a couple of inbuilt effects from reaper. Compressor and EQ. The Eq can make the snare sound real crispy. I've always been pretty resourcefull when it comes to using what You've got.

* I forgot to mention that You can drop accents into the midi files. Eg: Crash cymbals and so forth.

Metalheads EZX?

One world-renowned drummer, Tomas Haake, member of the extreme metal band Meshuggah.

One in demand producer, Daniel Bergstrand, whose mixing and producing credits include the likes of In Flames, Strapping Young Lad, Soilwork and Meshuggah, just to name a few.

Two Incredible drum sets, assembled and recorded to metal perfection, ready to bring your metal productions to the next level. And, for the first time in Toontrack history, we?ve included Separate mix channels in the EZdrummer mixer, containing kick and snare drum samples designed by Daniel Bergstrand, that augment these already amazingly recorded drums.

Twelve classic Meshuggah songs, captured flawlessly via MIDI by Tomas Haake himself, organized both as full songs as well as song parts so you can customize, dissect and use his grooves and drumming brilliance to inspire or create your next grand metal composition.

This is the next step in the evolution of Metal drum production tools.
Looks like there is more to come to this month. It's Metal month at Toontrack.
