SOILWORK - The Panic Broadcast
« on: February 09, 2010, 09:20:07 PM »
Well, I think they certainly have to go down in history as having the stupidest, bizarro, un metal, album titles that never make any sense. I also have to add that Speed is a horrible lyric writer and should never be able to title their output. "Stabbing the Drama", "Figure Number 5ive", "The Aardvarrk Trail" are great examples of why some one should pull that pencil out of his hand and jam it up his butt.

Apart from that though, he's one of the best singers out there. And with Pete wichers onboard as well as half of french death metal band SCARVE, their 8th album looks promising.

Another winning album name!

I could watch youtube drumming videos for a week straight and not be bored - I enjoyed it, haha.

Wow, Soilwork are really dumb.
My hands are choking, my knife is broken.
An orgasm is what I need.
Your blood is spilling, the sight is thrilling.
To cum I need to see you bleed.

Consistently the worst album titles...

Very much on the fence with this as I didn't enjoy the last Soilwork and Scarve albums.
[Psychonaut] Sounds like Black Sabbath having rough sex with NWOBHM while 'early' Slayer jerks off in the corner  :cunning:

To be honest, I have a 50/50 bet this'll be any good.

album title will be about as good as the album itself i bet

yeah because we know you'll give it a decent listen before throwing it in the bin

didn't mind the last soilwork album but the scarve one was a complete career destroying album after irradiant did so well for them.

will have a listen as the band does have some good muso's but the last album was generic poo as far as i'm concerned. It was like they just pulled the most popular parts out of their previous work and hacked them together. Also i definitely agree with Mark on the lyrics writing speed sucks a fat one, or maybe he is just so uber obscure that he is brilliant, but i think the former.

we sued to cover song of the damned and it really just made me cringe singing this crap... Maybe i need to get speed to give me the low-down on what he is on about before passing judgement but hey if you can make any sense of it your better than me.

Song Of The Damned

Postironic we laugh dream in sonic
Diamond overload
Drenched in fear by struck of lightning
Cause we're only listening with one ear now
This organism rips us apart, it feasts on us

[Chorus]

Song of the damned, never ends, so don't pretend
We are condemned where we stand, where we stand

This machine creates
what in some people's mouth is called art
Too hard to comprehend
Too hard but will not bend, we will not bend

So why are we trusting those cynical souls
Bleeding, aching, bleeding, aching-bleeding
with hearts open wide all so cold
Live for the moment get killed for the thrill
Bleeding, aching, bleeding, aching bleeding for nothing
for we've seen it all

Fast and furious we're riding with serpent speed
Through the essence, through the greed
Forcing ourselves to overcome this mystery
This restless degradation
temptation and our endless lust
Will bring us down - will bring us deeper down!

So why are we trusting those cynical souls
Bleeding, aching, bleeding, aching-bleeding with hearts
open wide all so cold
Live for the moment get killed for the thrill
Bleeding, aching, bleeding, aching bleeding for nothing
for we've seen it all

[Lead Wichers]

Postironic we laugh dream in sonic
Diamond overload
Drenched in fear by struck of lightning
Cause we're only listening with one ear now
This organism rips us apart, it feasts on us

Song of the damned, never ends, so don't pretend
We are condemned where we stand, where we stand
Song of the damned, never ends, so don't pretend
We are condemned where we stand, where we stand
Song of the damned, never ends, so don't pretend
We are condemned where we stand, where we stand
[Repeat]

Well they've released a new song on their myspace and also a decent quality version at the german nuclearblast website.

Not bad but not brilliant.

Any thoughts?

Despite the stupid song title, I quite like it. A fair bit of nice guitaring and a catchy chorus.

The first song off the new album has been leaked as well and it's probably the most brutal thing Soilwork have done. I don't think anyone was expecting this.

Lightning fast, great riffs, techy solo's and no clean vocals!!

Amazon.com has 30 seconds snippets of the rest of the album and it's looking to be their best in about 10 years.

The tracks that we've played have been pretty good. Its definately better than the last couple of albums which isnt hard.

no clean vocals!

Huh! Most of "Epitome" is clean vocals. Theres a few tracks with clean chorus parts etc.

I must've missed the memo about lyrics in metal being important.  :P

5 full songs are available now on youtube. So far i'm liking these. "Night Comes Clean" is a belter and "Deliverance" is a surpise somewhat with it's thrashy origins. Really good efforts here compared to the last few albums.

There's a new sample site showing more of the songs. Dog of Pavlov is sounding really catchy ala "Figure Number Five" era.

Not sure if it was leaked or has been released, but it's out there on all the usual sites.

It's actually pretty fucking good. Aggressive, good riffs and solos.

I'm not the biggest Soilwork fan, but I've heard very decent things about this album, so I might as well give it a go sooner or later.

And for the fans, they are also touring in October.
