They just had it on the nightly News (coincidence ??)

To be completed 2 years from now and seat 15,000

And like you said - way over budget. To the tune of half a billion dollars or something   :err:

didnt the ent centre seat 15,000 or so? whats the fucking point in building a new one when there was a perfectly good one just sitting there?

I miss the Entertainment Centre. Had some fun times there. Kiss in 95 was my first major concert.

Wanna know how come Metallica haven't released a good album since 1988? This is the best explanation ever: http://www.leavethehall.co.uk/lists/metals-greatest-mysteries-solved/

I jest, of course. As it turns out, I pooh-poohed the gigs at length until a not-very-metal friend begged me to go with her on her spare ticket. Grudgingly I agreed but I'm actually kinda looking forward to it. I was at the last two shows at the Ent Centre (the first time as a proud fan, the second time at the behest of my mother, who was worried my little brother and his idiot mates would talk shit to a bikie and get pummelled).

That was a good show and fucking loud! The old entertainment centre really had a great sound. I have already seen Metallica twice in Melbourne last month and they are on fucking fire, it is absolutely freaky how good they are at the moment considering how old they are. Out of all the gigs I have seen in recent times including the mighty Slayer, Metallica undoubtedly blow them all away and I have seen some pretty fucking good gigs from some top notch bands.

That was my first ever gig. Still one of the best.

I saw them at BDO last time too and if they can be as good as they were there, in that shitty an environment, touring an album as shitty as St Anger... anyone who chooses not to go because they don't like the later material deserves to stay home and suck their own sour balls.

One of my mates is a driver for one of them while they're here - they have separate cars and they're travelling around separately apparently. James, Kirk and Rob in tinted Taragos.. Lars in an Audi.

I'm going tomorrow night, so hopefully they're better rested.

I guess it's lucky I think every single thing they've ever done is a total musical abomination, then.

Yeah, as long as your not wearing thongs or singlets.

Here's my review: Metallica were orright. Really old stuff they played (Hit The Lights, Four Horseman, even Creeping Death) didn't sound great, not much impact. Some stuff was fast, slow, speeding up, slowing down all over the place (Sad But True, Master of Puppets, Blackened). Their very newest stuff actually translated really well live, from a performance point of view they were the best songs of the night. But, they have far too many slow songs/ballads. And if James mentioned the "Metallica family" one more time I was going to stab someone.

Lamb of God were fucking amazing, played like motherfuckers, did not drop the ball for one second, had the crowd enthralled. After the set finished I was seriously considering trying to get hold of a standing area ticket for Saturday night just so I could see them again.

Baroness are a really great band, pity they were stuck on one side of the stage and couldn't move around more (I assume because of the gear set up around them for LOG and Metallica). I guess it's hard to have a whole heap of impact when you're playing with the house lights still up and daylight coming through from above. Still, impressive.

And $12 for a premix can of spirits and cola, OUCH.

They didnt play Creeping Death (10 points for paying attention) - its the one song I really wanted that they didnt play. I thought they played awesome by the way. Cant be fucked typing much right now, but that was fucking killer! And the cunt that climbed to the top of the rigging - what a MAD FUCKER!!

Hit the Lights was a nice surprise, as was Breadfan.

That show was fucking insane, I was on the rail the whole night right in front of Lars drum kit and in front of one of the mics and we got crushed! Fuck I am hurting though, got bruises everywhere, the crowd was just insane where I was. I managed to catch Lars drink and a guitar pick from Kirk. Metallica were on fire as usual, pity about the sound though but that's not Metallica, that's the fucking shitty Burswood Dome because Metallica sounded a hell of a lot better in Melbourne. But great show, standard set but I would think they will pull out a few surprises tonight. Now I'm off to go meet the band haha! Oh did anyone check out the fucking nutters climbing the support beams? Crazy!
