Domes a shit venue for rock music.

Sound comes out of it like an overflowing cup.

Stupid fucking venue, its an eyesore and should be turned into a shopping centre.

Man some people are hard to please.

Of course they're gonna play a bunch of shit from their new album, what band doesn't play stuff from the album their touring?
You could look at it this way though:

nothing from St Anger
1 song from Reload
nothing from Load

Sure they played mostly just the well known songs off the earlier albums but I like those songs too. When they're playing to however many thousand at a city they rarely go to they're unlikely to be catering to the pre 90's back catalogue fans, as awesome as that would be.

When they were playing shit like Enter Sandman I just sat back and watched the crowd, made me enjoy those songs heaps more than I expected.

I choose to be thankful for the cool shit we did get rather than lament on what we missed out on. I just don't understand the whinging.

Me too. Are we allowed to go into Burswood casino in wearing the Metal uniform?

Yeah, as long as your not wearing thongs or singlets.
Swoit. Might have a longi moment at the foodhall there.

Judging by the security staff they contracted for the night (not to mention using metal detectors on people on the way out of the gig), they could have fooled me.

Still, can't say I've ever been in a venue with a fantastic rock/metal sound. At least it's not Rob Pav, or Challenge Stadium.
I must slumber, per se.

They didnt play Creeping Death (10 points for paying attention) - its the one song I really wanted that they didnt play. I thought they played awesome by the way. Cant be fucked typing much right now, but that was fucking killer! And the cunt that climbed to the top of the rigging - what a MAD FUCKER!!
Hit the Lights was a nice surprise, as was Breadfan.

Ah shit, I meant Seek and Destroy not Creeping Death. Right at the end I was like "which are they gonna play, it's either Seek or Creeping, please be Creeping please be Creeping please be Creeping" so of course it was Seek and Destroy.

But my comment still stands, I think the really old songs seemed kind of flat. Like they've bored with them or something.

Here's my review: Metallica were orright. Really old stuff they played (Hit The Lights, Four Horseman, even Creeping Death) didn't sound great, not much impact. Some stuff was fast, slow, speeding up, slowing down all over the place (Sad But True, Master of Puppets, Blackened). Their very newest stuff actually translated really well live, from a performance point of view they were the best songs of the night. But, they have far too many slow songs/ballads. And if James mentioned the "Metallica family" one more time I was going to stab someone.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't hear Creeping Death, I was starting to get worried that I've already forgotten part of the show! Would have been nice if they'd removed half of hte ballads, and thrown in Whiplash and Creeping Death. Even swapping a ballad for Sanitarium would have been awesome. I doubt they would have played them too well however, they did make plenty of mistakes in the old stuff they played. It was good fun though, don't get me wrong. It was nice to finally see the band, and I had a good time.

I was just waiting for someone to fall of the rigging and kill themselves... idiots. The security just got sick of climbing up and telling them to come down after a while.

I dunno how they were thinking that people *wouldn't* climb on it when it's so obviously an ideal thing to climb on.

There was no way you could climb the rigging tonight. The black base thingies were twice as high!

They played a different set list?  :o

Looks like I went on the wrong night! OR rather, I should have gone both nights.

No way. Friday nights setlist was far superior although I had a much better seat tonight & got to see the "laser" show.
Still happy they played Orion & Whiplash.
I thought it was good that they did two different shows. Adds to the spontaneity and like James said "It keeps them fresh".

How was it down on the floor?

Was a good show. The drunken idiots shat me off a bit though. Chicks dancing in a sexual manner as hot as it looks, ruins the vibe and aggressive feel of the classic metallica songs. EG: Seek and Destroy. In fact any form of dancing to Metal is blasphemy in my book. Unless it's head banging.

The stage setup looked wikid. Looked like a cross between a boxing ring and the medical chamber where Darth Vadar was being reconstructed.

Wanted to go into the casino afterwards but the line was too long. Even the club had a long line.

Eh. every night this tour the set has been different, so of course Fridays and Saturdays sets would be different. Also Orion on the sat night was a gimme as well after NZ. In fact this whole tour, only 7 songs have been played every night....other than that, the setlists have just been random stuff from all Metallica eras

Yeah, I'm jealous of the Saturday setlist a bit. That's it, next time I'm going both nights.

I think I prefer Fridays setlist, which is good because its the one I went to. Only exception of course being Orion. Lots of whinging in here... what the fuck? It was an AWESOME show, the lights and pyro were really cool, the sound was brilliant from where I was (but Im no expert) and I totally enjoyed the entire evening.... so did my wife and mum (was a bit obscure going to a gig with both of them).

Awesome show again! Didn't get to the very front this time as I had to go meet the band before the show but still got pretty close to the front  ;D Fucking awesome meeting the band, really friendly down to earth guys. Also saw Baroness walk through backstage, Lars went and chatted with them for a bit. But the setlist was amazing. Disposable, Through The Never, Orion, Fight. Only downside was no Creeping Death but hey, no complaints about the show. Can't wait for more next month!

I was in the pit on friday night right near the pole that guy climbed right up the top. Seemed like a massive oversight by security..had they never done a metal gig before? I'm sure its happened many times before, I hope someone got fired because of it.

Also those fuckhead security guards up the front, obviously they were told to push crowd surfers back into the crowd, but their number 1 priority should be to protect the crowd not the fucking band. Some crowd surfers were actually just trying to get down, pulled down by security like every other gig but they kept pushing them back into the crowd. Needless to say it got a bit tedious and I had to drag a few crowd surfers down, there is a time and a place for crowd surfing and that wasn't it. The whole pit was pretty weak in my opinion, but i guess it is a Metallica gig.... Also, stop fucking jumping up and down you fuckheads. /end rant
Vagrancy wasn't it? That's gonna look real good on his grave stone in Arlington: Here lies John Rambo, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, survivor of countless incursions behind enemy lines. Killed for vagrancy in Jerkwater, USA.

I hope they have Eve open again pre show. Metal (mostly Metallica) playing and a cool vibe.

    Setlist:
    That Was Just Your Life
    The End Of The Line
    For Whom The Bell Tolls
    Fuel
    Fade To Black
    Broken, Beat & Scarred
    The Four Horsemen
    Sad But True
    The unforgiven
    All Nightmare Long
    One
    Master Of Puppets
    Blackened
    Nothing Else Matters
    Enter Sandman
    - - - - - - - -
    Breadfan
    Hit The Lights
    Seek and Destroy
Kris was hangin for Broke Beaten and scarred last night. But they didn't play it. I was blown away by the set last night. didn't expect them to play the thrashier stuff. like Disposable heros and Fight Fire with Fire(from my experience is a bit of a bitch to play on Bass) in their entirety.

Having said that the only thing I was disappointed about was that no local bands got to play support as it would have been great exposure.

That show was fucking insane, I was on the rail the whole night right in front of Lars drum kit and in front of one of the mics and we got crushed! Fuck I am hurting though, got bruises everywhere, the crowd was just insane where I was. I managed to catch Lars drink and a guitar pick from Kirk. Metallica were on fire as usual, pity about the sound though but that's not Metallica, that's the fucking shitty Burswood Dome because Metallica sounded a hell of a lot better in Melbourne. But great show, standard set but I would think they will pull out a few surprises tonight. Now I'm off to go meet the band haha! Oh did anyone check out the fucking nutters climbing the support beams? Crazy!

I hope you wernt one of the weak fuckers in front of me then, that just stood there and were to busy taking fucking photos with a piece of shit camera to actually act like you were in a pit!!!!!! fuck people that do that SHIT ME!

and to all the people bitching about their tempos being all over the place, do you actually follow this band? its something they have allways done live.
both shows were amazing, was in the pit friday and the grandstand sat, crowd was weak as fuck for LOG on fri which sucks ass cause they were fucking killer!
