You could try the Gilkinson's Dance Studio. I'm pretty sure they wanted to have March Metal Madness which turned into May Metal Madness and eventually turned into No Metal Madness. Can't remember who was organizing it...

The Civic is not so bad for that sort of shindig.  It is only 5Km for the CBD and there are fast food places and easy parking all around it.

I quite liked the look of that place. The Wardaemonic/Mhorgl launch was the first time I've been in there.

For a festival, somewhere with two stages would be good, with the heavier bands on one stage and the lighter bands on the other. Give people the choice to keep watching the bands, or get some food while a band that's not really their style is playing.

Was looking into doing a 2 stager @ the Railway this coming summer.
If we are playing, then we be on the outside as well

Outside has that wide open feel, but the wind plays havoc with the mikes.  inside has generally got a crap sound, but more of the crowd atmosphere. 

Hard to pick really.
