$700 will get you better monitors than you will need in a small bedroom for demos. There's no point having a set of JBL LSR6300's in a bedroom.

You can get a pair of Fostex PM0.4 or PM0.5 speakers in that range I think. They're not bad for the price. A lot of people have KRK Rokits which are ok. I don't actually think they sound that great but they're relatively cheap and will do what you need them to do. I'd go the Fostex over the Rokits though. Jump on ebay, there's plenty of shit in that price range.

Oh and yes, dkfh is just the samples. You will need ez drummer to run it.

How have you heard the Mackie HR824/624? I know the MR are made in China.
they seem to be the Shit! On ebay i just missed out on a used pair for $540 US then shipping...

Yeah those Mackies have a pretty good rep.

That price doesn't seem right though. They retail for over 3 grand per pair.

As for Ez Drummer, you need to open an instrument track (this is for Pro Tools, I'm not sure what program you're using but I assume it's the same deal) and insert the Ez Drummer plugin. On the instrument track there should be an option to view the midi notes where you can draw in whatever you want. The best way to get a feel would be to open the preset grooves within the Ez Drummer interface (it's a button down the bottom of the window) and drag something into your track. That will show you how the midi is laid out, where kicks/snares/etc are. There should be mock piano keys on the left of the track (again, this is in pro tools but it should be similar if not the same in other DAWs) which correspond to drums/cymbals so you can figure out where to draw things in.

It's kinda hard to explain in writing but if you're patient and keep playing with it you'll figure it out.

Also, familiarise yourself with note velocity if you don't want everything to sound like an epilepsy machine. That's something to check out after you figure out the above mentioned shit.
