i know many off us would not6 even be into metal if is wasnt for slipknot

Slipknot were good for dragging heavier music out to the masses, but I dont know about being a 'pioneer'.
Paul Gray was a good bassist but he nor the band werent really breaking new ground musically, or even visually for that matter.

Or maybe I missed something?

Yeah a left hander, he also used a combination of pick and finger styles and some slap technique on a couple of tracks in the very early days, which is fairly (not totally) unique in the metal genre.

A child will be born not knowing its father, a mother lost her son, a wife lost her husband, the band lost one of its brothers and the world lost a damn good bassist.. RIP

moral of the story don't do drugs.

Like I said before, I have met Paul & he was a good bloke.
He is one of the 3 original members of Slipknot. He was the guy who always had time for the fans without acting like a rock star.
He enjoyed shooting the breeze with fans anywhere anytime.
The guy could play a wide variety of bass styles. Slipknot is a band where most if not all the players never get to show their full talent & skills as they are reigned in to fit the music that the 9 create.
I became a huge fan after seeing their first tour. I had seen plenty of live metal shows before & even more since & none since that show have lived up to my expectations. They may not write the best metal albums, but their live show is awesome.

R.I.P Paul your influence on the best live shows I have ever seen will be missed by myself & many others.
