Ok, calm down folks.

Nosaj, thanks for the warning, and the story that went along with it. My website has been hacked into twice this year, and although I would consider myself fairly internet-savvy, I still have no idea how they did it.

Inge, while most people will already know about that kind of spammer, there might have been someone who benifited from the story. There are far more worthy things to get angry about than this. What would the puppy in your avatar do?

Ingasm, you get scammed everyday and you don't even know it. Do you study your bank statements, taxes, pay slips, dockets and bills? Do you count the change you're given after every purchase? Do you track every tax dollar you spent to make sure it goes to something worthwhile? Do you compare prices to make sure you're not getting ripped off? Do you secretly hope that if you lose your wallet, a good samaritan returns it untouched? You've been around for more than two decades, you know what people are like, it's not that hard to get scammed is it? You realise that people were stealing identities before the internet - do you shred your personal documents? Ever been ripped off by a friend?

Net scammers are a lot craftier, and it's a lot easier to fool someone over the net by preying on their emotional weaknesses as well as their lack of information diligence. There's always gonna be someone that missed that episode of Today Tonight about the scammer that took off with some poor ladies savings. There's always gonna be people that put too much trust in someone else.

It shows how cowardly they are, 10 odd years ago, they kinda hid in the shadows when there is a fear of getting caught, because they know theyll get the book thrown at them. but these days, being opportunists and just generally cunts to the bone from birth, they flock like seagulls to do someone over, or kick the fuck out of them when they arent looking, when they know theyll most probably will get away with it. this happens as you know all the time. Then (not that anyone does now and im fucked if i know why) the victims retaliate they get gaffed.

My son used to play some on-line game where you can buy stuff to start a band and buy a house, furniture etc someone told him to get free credits press 'ctrl and 7' so he did and this allowed to person to hack his account take all the stuff he had collected and stole about $30 worth of credit off him. I ALWAYS police my sons internet use and have to admit I probably would have tried it myself as they didn't ask for his password. Anyway my point is there are some good scams out there and even though people think they are internet smart they can still get done...

If you read my post again you'll see I typed they 'didn't ask for his password' meaning he never gave it to them...
What I meant by 'good' scam was the less obvious scams (I don't think any scams are good) get people, for example if we had to pay to use Western Front and someone on here told me to press 'ctrl & 7' for some free credit I'd think hey what can it hurt...
