Polish news site TVP has uncovered that the disease is leukemia and it's past the point of chemotherapy treatment, and he would need a bone marrow transplant.

There are apparently only 100 thousand donors of bone marrow in Poland, where the population is over 38 million. Nergal's fiance, Polish singer Doda has donated her bone marrow but it is apparently unknown if it's compatible.

The more people get tested and donate, the more of a chance for life there is for him and people in the same situation.

Every year, more than 10,000 people are diagnosed with leukemia or lymphoma, and a bone-marrow transplant from an unrelated person is their best or only hope for survival. There is no data available on how many people die waiting for a match, but only four out of 10 patients receive the needed transplant.

go sign up with the bone marrow registry if you wanna actually do something, im pretty sure they cross check the australian one with the international one, and its not that bad to do it, i donated about 2 years ago, pretty small sacrifice for what it does.

not when its done through periferal blood, which is what most adult lukemia patients need, its only children that need it direct from the marror itself. when i donated all i did was inject myself with nupogen for 4 days to increase my stem cells produced from my bone marrow, and then they put a couple of needles in me and after 3 hours they took out what they needed, no biggie.
