Death, Black, Core, Thrash, Tech. Gay, Bi, Hetro. ( maybe not the last 2, unless its women)

Thinking it would be a blast Mkay.

ah yeah oops, yeah scrub the gay one for sure.

Is that all you got to say on the subject?

Just thinking anyway, proly a waste of time.

seriously tho
more to the point,
Obviously there's alot more metalheads out there than the ones that frequent this site.

So sure, there's proly some of those genres playing at gigs together all the time,

but if it was advertised as such, plus throw in some extra genres, i think there could be alot more people paying attention to it.
It'd be advertising to the not so diehard metalheads, that love the music but dont follow whats going on here in Perth metal scene wise.
If bands only managed to target diehard fans, they'd be fuckn broke.

Just a thought.

It is rather tricky to do that however, as advertising in the more mainstream media is bloody expensive. I've never made enough at any of my gigs to afford even a small ad in say Drum or Xpress, it's just too expensive. To afford one, you'd need to charge $20+ for a ticket. You might be able to do that with a min-festival, but for a regular 4 band gig that just isn't going to work.

Historically speaking tribute gigs do well. At those gigs I usually think where the fuck did all these people come from? The Dimebag Tribute is a prime example. Capitol was packed to the max.

Good gigs at amps tend to do quite well thanks to the kids trying to beat the post-midnight line to enter the place. They'll pay $10 or whatever to beat that line. Thought, I think Amps now cuts off the 'payers' count at 11:30pm (am I wrong?).

I reckon a tribute gig that includes different metal genres would be a winner. Always cool seeing people put their own spin on things.

Hey its good to get some positive comments on this.

I.G yeah i know coin is always one of those things.

I was thinking, like you mentioned, more of a festival type thing like we used to do at Club Original/Green room/Grosvenor or whatever the fuck its called now. they were fuckn cool. You'd then be able to get the all genres you need. Even some up and comers that are new etc.

You get all sorts coming to those. Go that littlle bit further to make it a bit more accomodating for everyone and you got yerslef a kickass show.

As you say it costs money, but there are ways to sort that out.
Pubs need peeps to get butt on seets.

Spread it too much and you won't have enough to entice some people. ie. One black metal band that plays every 2nd week, one death metal band that plays every 2nd week, one prog\thrash band etc. equals a gig thats probably not going to pull a large crowd.

no, I think what he's saying is that if you bring in too many different genres you end up with only 1 or 2 of each metal genre, and the likelihood is they are the bands that play regularly. People arent going to go to a mini-fest thing full of bands they dont like just to see a band that they saw last week at a 4 band metal gig.
