Some people take things way too seriously on the internet....
Perth Metal scene has been going slowly downhill since say 2006 when there used to be 2-3 gigs a week by top quality bands at top quality venues and frequent all age gigs. Naturally WF has died with it (lull is a bit of an understatement).
The scene has gone through many changes. Some of the older folk on here would say that things were much better in 95 than they were in 2006.
I think with many venues closing their doors to original bands over the past 3 years, it has been hard to organize gigs that punters would want to come to, keeping in mind that many metalheads (and punters in general) are working longer hours and for less money - often to the point where they cannot be bothered going to a local show.
There have also been a lot of touring acts recently taking punters money!
Ive always found that the best gigs aren't necessarily to do with the quality of the bands but the type and size of the crowd. If the crowd is good, people entertain themselves and the bands are just the icing on the cake.
There are in fact some great venues opening their doors to local original music lately, but sadly the punters are the ones not sensing the appeal of it all. I think every band plugging themselves to death on Facebook has also created a punter mentality to ignore.
