Tom Cruise in "Rock of Ages" movie

"[Tom's] character has elements of Axl Rose, Keith Richards and Bret Michaels," director Adam Shankman tells USA Today. "We did a huge amount of research on what people were going through in this period." He also relied on personal experience. "I knew a lot of these people because my dad was a music business manager."

It was previously reported that Cruise was preparing for his role by training with Axl Rose's vocal coach. "He's been studying with ? seriously ? Axl Rose's voice teacher like five hours a day," Shankman told The Wrap in April. "The prognosis is more than excellent."

The movie is a love story told through the music of PAT BENATAR, BON JOVI, JOURNEY, POISON, TWISTED SISTER and other artists from the 1980s.

Tom Cruise is a very, very poor choice. At least there's been no mention of 'We will rock you' by Queen....

All this needs now is a guest appearance of Adam Sandler. He would be be perfect as Tom Cruise's girlfriend.

Saw this musical on broadway a few weeks ago. Managed to get second row seats. Best night of entertainment in a long time. Was a great show!

I saw this as well when i was over there.

I was laughing my ass off, singing along and checking out the hot snatch all at the same time.

It's kind of like a Steel Panther show, just with less dick jokes. All good actors though.

Met Dee Snider after the show as well.
Definitely recommend it.
