Blackstar speaker emulated outputs vs mic'd cabinet
« on: July 17, 2011, 10:44:18 AM »
So JohnnyC and I were curious about the comparison between the speaker emulated output and a mic'd up cabinet for both the HT20 head and the HT-DISTX distortion pedal. I quickly knocked up some sections from The Human Connection with programmed drums and a DI'd bass and recorded guitars using the aforementioned techniques. Johnny then put together the vid. Check it out!

The emulated outputs sound really good but I think there's just something lacking. They're quite clear and nice but I think personally I'd just use them as added layers under mic'd guitars just for extra thickness. They're great for demo's and assorted recordings when you can't be fucked setting up a cabinet/mics or if you have to limit noise.

Thoughts?
