Kind of like a booth at an expo with temporary display walls/boards.

So its an exhibition for a guy that does nothing more than design band logos.... and he's not even going to be here?

Im not knocking the bands involved in this at all - any excuse for a gig. This one just seems a bit weird.

I would have preferred it if Christophe was here, but unfortunately he has other commitments, although is excited to have his work exhibited in Australia and still requested to have it presented despite his absence.

Other than that, how is promoting an artist's work and his book weird or any different to a band's album/merch/website/etc launch?

While they're not paintings, if you're too much of a meat head to appreciate Christophe's art and his part in black metal culture then as you said any excuse for a gig/chance to get drunk...fucking fuck yeah cunt.

Im far from a meat head thank you very much... I do appreciate art, but drawing stick-like, unreadable logos is a stretch... unless the art is in looking like Kyle Gass. Then he's Rembrandt...

This is a very cool concept, don't get me wrong, but usually when someone does an exhibition, they actually turn up for it.

In the hope of drawing out some new talent and giving them a go (although all bands welcome to apply), who wants to step up and open the show?

Unfortunately Natron have had to withdraw from the re-launch show featuring Christophe Szpajdel's exhibition, as well as metal guests Malignant Monster, Wardaemonic, Weapons & One Of None at the Rosemount Hotel on Saturday, 10th May.

This will be a great opportunity for exposure and to perform at one of Perth's best venues, so please share with your mates, or if your band is available then please forward your expression of interest with contact details and samples to supremelegion@iinet.net.au. Alternatively, provide a link to the band below.

The successful applicant will be announced next Friday, 2nd May. Even if you don't win, it's worth entering as the most impressive acts will be kept in mind to be apart of future events and promotions!

CHRISTOPHE "LORD OF THE LOGOS" SZPAJDEL

While a lot of kids graffiti their favourite bands names on school books and so forth, who ever thought one could turn it into a profession? Instigated at age 7 by a love for Kiss, Black Sabbath, & Led Zeppelin; producing his first original band logo in 1990; and having created the logo for prominent black metal band Emperor early in his career (inadvertently drawing attention to his work following the infamous church burnings by members of various black metal acts in Norway during the 90’s), the Belgium-born artist and photographer has now been honing his craft for 24 years.

Having produced over 8000 logos for bands, labels and brands alike, Szpajdel's clientele list features a plethora of names including Dimmu Borgir, Old Man’s Child, Moonspell, Arcturus, Xasthur, Wolves In The Throne Room, Borknagar, Impiety, Graveland, & Falkenbach (as well as Perth’s own Malignant Monster & Advent Sorrow), among others. With such an extensive portfolio, Christophe released his first ever book entitled “Lord Of The Logos” through German publisher Gestalten in 2010.

In September 2013 the Austrian artist ventured to New Zealand to exhibit his art (as featured on 3News.co.nz), and now in continuing to promote his work around the world (despite not being able to appear in person due to other commitments) Christophe’s "Crepusculum Australe” exhibition will now be shown in Australia for the very first time as part of the Blacken The Globe festival (NT) and the official Supreme Legion re-launch on Saturday, 10th May @ Rosemount Hotel in North Perth (WA) from 8pm headlined by none other than Malignant Monster in their first home appearance since their triumphant return from the HammerSonic 2014: Jakarta International Metal Festival in Indonesia (supported by Wardaemonic, Weapons, One Of None & To Hell With Honour).

Immense gratitude to Malignant Monster, Wardaemonic, Weapons, One Of None & To Hell With Honour for each unleashing their own brand of aural onslaught at the Rosemount Hotel on Saturday night making our re-launch possible; and a HUGE thanks to all the headbangers, both old and new, who turned up to rock out in support of Perth's metal legion!

Christophe Szpajdel would have been genuinely humbled by the people who expressed appreciation for his art, and particularly thankful to those who put down their name to purchase a copy of his "Lord Of The Logos" book. A confirmation e-mail/message will be sent out in the next day or two, and if you missed out on-line orders will be available from our store very soon, so watch this space.

Horns up also to Outback Bob Photography for his enthusiasm and camera work in capturing the event (as well as those other photographers who attended), which he is now editing for release in the near future; plus congratulations again to the winners of the Septic Flesh & Fleshgod Apocalypse ticket and $100 Lost City Tattoo gift voucher.

Intent of fortifying the stature of Australian metal with premium events and releases, Supreme Legion currently has a few projects in the works to continue this crusade, so please encourage your mates to "like" our page to keep up-to-date with the latest news while staying tuned for the unveiling of our next campaign!

Also, did you hear a song during our re-launch that got your head banging, but not sure who/what it was...?
