His record pure gold,

AGREED Smitty!
Just saw Pestilence on sunday night at Camden underworld. It was a good chance to hear the new songs, not to mention cut lose to the old classics!
So stoked to finally meet Tony Choy who at some stage or another has played in two of my favourite bands (Cynic and Atheist!)

You mean OLD SCHOOL death metal.
Calling the new school of Death Metal fake is narrow minded and shows signs of elitism.
More creativity goes into writing technical songs than just throwing scale patterns and arpeggios over blast beats.

Elitist...Who me ? ... nah i'll leave that to the KVLT BM kiddies  :eyebrows:

I just grow tired of cookie cutter bands within this genre of Metal
(& yes i do realize that there was plenty of Cookie Cutter DM bands back in the day as well)

More creativity goes into writing technical songs than just throwing scale patterns and arpeggios over blast beats.

Ahh you say this but from a lot of what i've heard that ISN'T the case, but having said this I've also heard a few Newer/techy DM bands that i quite enjoy   :headbang:

They are only good because it's Matt and Col from Exhumed.
I'm extremely turned off by new thrash.... Most of the bands aren't really writing any really classic riffs.

Fraternally bound to haunt swollen distended bodies
Their chemical reactions clash amidst rank autopsies...
NH2(CH2)4NH2...Putrescine!
C5H14N2...Cadaverine!

all riffs have notes and some notes are classic, you need about three notes to have lots of fun or smitty with two notes  :headbang:
