Since the so called "Australian tour" for Destruction isn't one, a bunch of us are heading over to Adelaide from Perth to see one of the best metal bands going around in the world, so if any of the rest of you have good taste then come on over and party on with us...

Let us know if you are interested in getting any info about flights / hotels etc

WA Gigs / Western Front Awards Night '10/'11 - 28th October 2011
« on: September 08, 2011, 12:21:31 AM »
The annual awards show for the best of Western Australian metal for the previous year, with performances by some of the top voted bands, and presentation of awards.

Playing on the night will be Enforce, Claim The Throne, Psychonaut and Sins Of The Father - A great cross section of the WA metal scene so should be an awesome night.

...AND it's a public holiday so you can get down to the pub and start drinking early! Forget about CHOGM, we've created our own event - the Commonwealth Heads Of Metal Party, so come along and get your "CHOMP" on!

The Frontline / Sasha Grey has an "experimental goth band"
« on: May 04, 2011, 04:43:14 AM »

Sounds like she should have stuck to copping it up the ass.

The Frontline / Limp Bizkit argument ended in fatal brawl
« on: May 04, 2011, 04:32:00 AM »

A man was beaten to death because he objected to his room mate playing Limp Bizkit on their stereo.

It should have been the other way around, obviously.

Western Australia / Western Front Awards '10/'11 - NOMINATIONS
« on: April 20, 2011, 11:47:24 PM »
Once again it is time for the voting for the Western Front Awards (WA) for 2010.
This stage is just the nomination period, and then from that will be created a voting form to select from the top nominees.

Just nominate in each category that you have a choice for, in the format:

With 1 being your favourite and your follow up nominations (But you can just choose one or two if that's all you can think of).
The nominations are for the best of Western Australian metal.

The categories for 2010:

- Best Local Band

- Best Local Release

- Best Local Guitarist

- Best Local Drummer

- Best Local Bassist

- Best Local Vocalist

- Best Local Keyboardist

The nominations will be for a nominal period, after which stage the voting will be held.

General discussion / Bill and Ted 3!
« on: April 08, 2011, 12:24:34 AM »
As is the trend with Hollywood not having much in the way of original ideas these days, they're finally doing a long overdue (i nearly typo-ed 'overdude', a real typo though  ;D) follow up to the Bill and Ted movies.

Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves best movies, the latter's subsequent roles all having a bit of Ted about them anyway, since it's pretty much just Keanu naturally.

WA Gigs / Gig Guide / Forum Calendar
« on: April 06, 2011, 01:10:04 AM »
A reminder to people advertising gigs that they should send the details to me via the WF main page to get added to that guide. Some people don't use the forum and just check that, and it is a much neater and more concise way to quickly see what events are coming up.

People hadn't been sending me details and I've been so busy with other things to go through all of the ones on the forum, so the gig guide had slipped a bit. I've just spent the last hour / hour and a half going through all the posts and adding the shows.

Also, I've opened up the calendar on here for people to add events so if you post a gig you may as well add it to that as well, so it's easier for people to see, and to help avoid double bookings. It's a trial for now and if it starts to get spammed I'll have to turn it off for regulars to add to.
NOTE: The calendar on here is just a side aspect and is not related to or linked to the MAIN gig guide on WF.

General discussion / Annual metal bash - Saturday March 5th
« on: February 11, 2011, 02:32:29 AM »
That time again to have my big annual metal party which doubles as my birthday celebrations!

So if you're one of the metal crew, you're mates with me or know me then you're welcome among the brethren (and err.. sisteren  ::)).

Expect plenty of good tunes, good people, a keg or two, and some food to see you through the night!

It will also serve as a nice warm up for Soundwave on the Monday. Save some cash for that by coming along to the party, having a good time and getting smashed on the cheap.  8)

If you've made the auspicious pilgrimage before then you no doubt know the location.
If you need to know then contact me.

... from Neverborn (Click on it)

The local metal scenes oldest matron.. err, patron.. wait, this isn't coming out right. One of the longest main stays around the traps of metal in Perth, and friend to us all (well most of us), Nina, is having her usual birthday bash gig in true metal stylings.
It will be in the form of a show at The Den (Civic frontroom) on the 10th of September with a bunch of cool bands:

Vespers Descent
Nails of Imposition
Empires Laid Waste

Come along, wish her happy birthday, see some bands, get drunk with us (not necessarily in that order)!

:drunk: :woot: :police: :yay: :shithitfan:  :bomb: :skull:  :ass: :upyours:  :hmm:  8)  :o  :cunning:   ;D  ;)  :headbang:

« on: August 16, 2010, 02:13:20 AM »
Well it's now time again for the most important voting period you could be involved with... no, of course I'm not talking about the Australia federal election voting, it's the Western Front Metal Awards! The nominations were tallied and the top contenders have been put together for you to make your choice for the best of the best. Click here or on the main page click the "WF Metal Awards" menu link and make your vote count!

Don't forget to include a valid email address as you will be sent an email to confirm your vote. Let's move Australian metal forward and stand up for real headbanging action!

Thanks to Strike Hard Bookings we have a double pass to giveaway to the upcoming Unearth & Black Dahlia Murder Australian tour - the pass is just for the Perth show on the 6th of June 2010, so if you're in WA and interested in checking it out, just go to the competition page and send in your full name and email address.

The winner shall be drawn on the 3rd of June so you have 2 weeks to enter. They will be notified and have their name +1 put on the door list for the show. Pretty simple really.. good luck!

General discussion / Post a pic
« on: March 25, 2010, 11:12:03 PM »
Ok, this is just bizarre, the original post a pic thread seems to have gone missing in action and I have no idea why or how.
Ah well, I guess a better time than any to start off a fresh.
