International / Citadellion - FREE Euro fantasy power metal!
« on: February 04, 2010, 01:59:38 AM »
Becasue WF loves power metal so much, I thought I'd shate that this Swedish band have uploaded their entire first album for download, through their myspace page blogs. They're giving them as a download as they are a new studio band and don't yet have the fanbase to warrant physical copies of the CDs.

I'm not exactly sure who to compare them too, but I hear bits of Dream Evil, Gamma Ray, Helloween and a few others that I just can't grasp. It's good whatever it is... if you like that kinda thing :p

WA Gigs / Brutally Designed 13th Feb
« on: January 28, 2010, 10:50:03 PM »
Saturday, 13th February, The Castle. Nothing big, just a night of heavy metal!

Grave Forsaken
Parietal
All This Filth
Reflections of a Dead Man

More details and poster to follow.

Reflections of a Dead Man are a young band from Albany, so I hope a decent number of people turn up to watch them, make it worth their while traveling up here.

The bands have been picked so as not to clash horrifically with the other gig on that night.

WA Gigs / March 20 - Fight To The Death
« on: January 28, 2010, 02:08:13 AM »

We'll be launching Grave Forsaken's 4th studio album 'Fight To The Death'. It's their thrashiest release to date.

Line-up:

Arkarion
Neverborn
Dethlahem
Grave Forsaken
Noctis

You may notice a few things a little different to usual with this gig, most likely the price. $14 is fairly standard for a local album launch gig, it's in line with Neverborn's gig last month. Add in the line-up, and plenty of give always all night, and it's a reasonably door price. Plus, I still want to be able to pay all 5 bands a decent cut off the door.

While this was originally planned for an album launch, there is a strong chance the album wont be back from the printers in time. However, the band will be getting a heap of promo copies made up themselves, independently from their label. The promo copies will contain the full mastered album. These will be ready well ahead off time, and everyone who pre-orders the album will get a free promo copy. So for the $20 price, you get in, you get a promo copy of the album, and you'll be mailed out the album when the official copies are made.

Give-aways, there will be plenty. Dethlahem have some stubby holders, and copies of the Western Alliance compilation to give away. I'll have a bunch of them too and a few other things. There may be more too, come down and find out.

Western Australia / IGI Compilation Naming Competition
« on: December 12, 2009, 03:14:10 AM »
We've decided to run a competition for choosing the name of the album, see if we can't add even more local flavour to the project. How do you enter? Simple: just post your ideas here. No limit to how many names you can come up with, and the forum automatically tracks who posted what first. If we end up using your suggestion you'll get two (2) free copies of the album, and you will be attributed for the title in the booklet.

The competition will run for a week. So that gives you until midnight Saturday, 19th of December, to get your entries in.

The artwork has a military theme, primarily WWI. A good name is a good name however, doesn't have to directly play in with the artwork.

CD Trade & Merchandise / Grave Forsaken - Light The Hall PRE-ORDER
« on: November 28, 2009, 02:26:30 AM »
Grave Forsaken's first live album, "Light The Hall", is being released on Iron Guardian Industries, in both CD and 12" vinyl record versions. Both versions come with a bonus DVD with 2 hours of footage, including a whole concert.

Both versions are only being made in a very limited run. There will be 100 copies of the CD, and 25 copies of the vinyl. Get in quick if you don't want to miss out. There may be a few more made down the track, if needed, but for now, get in quick of you'll miss out.

There is the option to buy both versions at once, which is a little cheaper, and you only have to pay for postage once (or not at all if you're in Australia). You'll only get one copy of the DVD though, not two.

This is a pre-order, and they should be ready by mid-December.

The Frontline / Miming on stage - lip-synching
« on: November 09, 2009, 09:26:44 PM »
Page 5 of the Sunday Times had an article about Britney Spear's gig in town, how over 100 people walked out of the gig because she was miming, not actually singing. Some people paid a LOT of money to get tickets, and expected to see her actually perform the songs, not just dance around.

I heard on the radio, last friday, that there was talk about making a rule that artists would have to disclose if they would be miming or not, as part of some misleading advertising problem. I'd be in support of this, as a live show is just that, a live show.

Personally, when I pay to see a band live, I expect to see them play the song, not prance around to a backing track. A symphonic backing track, I can understand, but never the lead vocals, or any of the lead instruments.

I've never heard of anything like this in metal, a vocalist lyp synching to their songs. Has it ever happened?

Western Australia / Perth Metal Compilation application information
« on: October 31, 2009, 05:19:55 PM »
Ok, here goes. The last three IGI gigs have been raising money for this compilation, and now it's time to sort out who is going to be on the album. So far 8 bands will be appearing, thanks to their contribution to the fundraiser gigs. That leaves plenty of space for others bands if they want to be involved. I'll be getting in touch with those who have shown interest in the past. If your band would like to be involved, send me a message as soon as possible.

Download an application form here: www.ironguardianindustries.com/application.doc

I'm setting a cut off date for applications: November 20th. That gives you about three weeks to get sorted out and to submit your track for consideration.

If you'd like more information, or if you don't think you'll be ready in time for the cut off date, get in touch and we'll sort something out.

Best ways to contact me: a PM on here or at www.myspace.com/ironguardianindustries. Get in touch and I'll give you my email address and phone number if you need it.

WA Gigs / Christmas Metal Gig Discussion
« on: October 09, 2009, 01:46:31 PM »
Has anyone else started to look into this yet? If a Christmas gig is already being planned, then I wont bother with my own. However, if there is nothing going on behind the scenes then we might as well get started with one.

This year Christmas is on a Friday. A lot of people would have other plans already for Christmas night, but otherwise the gig would have to be held a week earlier, on the 19th.

WA Gigs / The Cold November Pain, Nov 14th @ The Castle (+ poster)
« on: October 07, 2009, 11:26:57 PM »

Although I initially had a theme for this night, it fell through, so we've now got a night of mixed metal acts. From classic hard rock, to black metal, with a couple of stops in between.

618 (www.sixone8.com, first gig as far as I can tell)
Crankenstein (classic metal covers, from Deep Purple to Iron Maiden)
Threshold
Mhorgl

Also, new, but just as awful gig name.

CD Trade & Merchandise / Updated IGI stock list!
« on: September 27, 2009, 09:12:35 PM »
Ok, it's been a while since a proper stock update. I've gone through my stock and checked it with what my store says I have. Seems I've misplaced a lot of cds around the place. I've had to remove a few items from the store as I can't find them, even though I'm sure I've got them here somewhere... I love being organised.

All prices are in $AUS, and include postage within Australia. International postage is   $3 per item.

(Interestingly enough, aside from Arkarion, IGI stocks material from all the bands.. favoritism, or just good taste :p)

Western Australia / Templar - Dark Circus
« on: July 31, 2009, 02:16:25 PM »
Has anyone actually heard of this band before? They're a Perth band, but have never played live. Their 2nd full length album will be out next month (the jewel case version) and IGI will be stocking it. Lyrics often focus on global conspiracies, mental illness and combinations of the two.

They've come up with a video clip for the title track, Dark Circus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFxBjB77Wa4

And a shorted remixed one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6SoE_lyo0g

I like their new album, but it's a bit different to their first album Preaching to the Perverted.
Skyspider - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKUGxVzA9b8

And different yet again to their first EP Witch Hunt

8th of August, Saturday night. 8pm doors, $10 like usual.

We are very pleased to announce that KHARIOT will be taking the stage for their very first time, opening the night's proceedings.

Embarking on the next stage of this metal journey, we have SINS OF THE FATHER.

Leading up to their 3rd album launch, NEVERBORN will come down and rock the stage.

PSYCHONAUT will be headlining playing for a full hour, or until they get dragged off stage, which ever takes longer.

The night is raising funds for a local metal compilation that Iron Guardian Industries is planning. All profit will be set aside for this. By raising some money, I'm hoping this will show that it's a genuine attempt at putting a compilation together. If your band is interested in being part of this, let me know.

WA Gigs / local metal cover bands?

What metal cover bands do we have in Perth?

Top of my head:
Sabotage
Wrathchild
Crankenstein
Mhorgl (not a cover band, but know enough for a full set)

Who else?
