the only thing in common is the slut factor, although that appears to have increased somewhat.... that and her bedspread is a bit of a purple haze.

Anyone who rags on a strat hasn't played one.

Guitars for grownups.

Fuck oath. They might not be the most interesting guitars to look at but the feel and tone is awsome.

Ehh... maybe it's just me, or just Fender basses... every Fender or Squire bass I've played on I've found boring, and uninspiring... I can't even be fucked playing one.
I must slumber, per se.

Lol...

I still stand by Fender's being lame... just because old school rock stars played with them, it doesn't make them great... they didn't have the choice of today's more diverse and appealing range of guitars and designs... and 24-fret boards.

Even as far back as the late 50's Gibson were producing some pretty awesome shaped guitars.... Flying V anyone?

Yeah it's just you. It sounds like you've been around the world and played a few thousand guitars. You're not in Bon Jovi are ya?

A few thousand Fenders... :P

I tend to make playing the store instruments a habit whenever I walk into a store. Then again, to be fair, some of the time the basses are either improperly set up, or have been fucked around with by the last person(s) who played on them. :/

Also, the stock bridges on Fender basses are le gay. Fix 'em up Leo.

I'll admit I'm wrong MDV, but I want you to admit that there's room for subjectivity. ;D

haha i have been able to overlook your ripping fenders...but to then rip fender basses in particular...are you SURE your a bass player??

Fender make some of the nicest basses out there (your the first bass player i have come by who has every had a problem with them...).

Its not the instrument that's boring and uninspiring...ITS THE PLAYER  :P.

A great musician should be able to pick up any instrument and make great music from it whether it be a $100 cheapy or a magnificent piece of craftmanship...

Which ones would you say?

I've had a craving for a strat or tele for a while now.

Tele's are for girls. Strats are for men.

Didn't you know?

Well, what's your budget? Also, some of these clones are rather hard to get in Australia, but if you want to go thru the hassle in getting a good one, it's possible...

Nothing wrong with Fenders! it really depends what sort of tone and playability you're after.
You gotta expect some negativity towards them in a metal forum

CBS owned Fender from the mid '60s until '85 and were all about cost cutting and mass production. I've played some kick ass '80s Fenders, although the majority are considered to be below par.

If it's purely for investment purposes I'd say you have a good chance of making a small profit 10 years down the track as most people wouldn't know the specifics of  Fender's history and would be keen to just get their hands on an older model for bragging rights and nostalgia purposes.

Depends how much they want for it, I'd expect to pay around $1000-$1200 for a standard '80s strat.
